Celebration of 6000 years of Tiel
Thanks to the extraordinary finds at Medel, it is certain that there was a settlement near Tiel more than 6,000 years ago, whose inhabitants practiced agriculture. This meant that they also had a permanent home, while their ancestors as hunters were still nomads. This makes Tiel the oldest real place of residence in the central Netherlands, and that deserves to be celebrated. A year has been set aside for it, from June 21, 2025 to June 21, 2026.
